About Vet Pet

A locally owned animal wellness practice in Oregon City, built on the idea that every pet owner deserves clear, patient, and genuinely helpful guidance.

A Practice Built From a Simple Idea

Vet Pet began with a straightforward belief: pet owners in Oregon City deserve a place nearby where they can ask an honest question about their animal and receive a thoughtful, unhurried answer. Rather than growing into a large, impersonal operation, Vet Pet has stayed intentionally close to its roots — a single location on Silverfox Parkway, run by people who live in this community and care about the animals in it.

What started as a modest practice has grown through word of mouth among neighbors, coworkers, and local pet groups who valued being heard rather than rushed. That reputation is something we continue to protect carefully, one visit at a time. We are not trying to be the biggest practice in the region — we are trying to be the most attentive one for the households who choose to work with us.

Today, Vet Pet remains independently and locally owned, which means every decision about how we operate — from how long we spend with each family to how we communicate — is made with our own community in mind, not a distant corporate standard.

How We Think About Every Visit

These are not marketing slogans — they are the working habits our team returns to with every household we speak with.

Patience First

We slow down when an animal needs us to, even if that means a longer conversation than planned.

Plain Communication

We avoid jargon and take time to make sure our explanations actually make sense to you.

Continuous Learning

Our team keeps up with current thinking in companion-animal care so our guidance stays relevant.

Whole-Family Focus

We consider the whole household's routine and comfort, not just the animal in front of us.

Todd Anthony Nelson

Todd Anthony Nelson owns and leads Vet Pet from its location on Silverfox Parkway in Oregon City. A lifelong animal lover, Todd built the practice around a simple standard: treat every visitor's pet — and every visitor's questions — with the same patience and respect he would want if the situation were reversed.

Todd is closely involved in the day-to-day rhythm of the practice, from how the waiting area is arranged to how phone conversations are handled. He believes that a community-based practice should feel approachable, not intimidating, and that pet owners should never feel rushed when something is worrying them about their companion. Outside of the practice, Todd stays engaged with the local Oregon City community and the people who make up its neighborhoods.

Caring Beyond Our Front Door

Being part of Oregon City means more to us than a mailing address. We pay attention to conversations happening in the local pet-owner community — from questions about seasonal hazards in the Pacific Northwest to concerns raised by neighbors about stray or at-risk animals nearby.

We try to be a resource, not just a destination: a place where someone can call with a general question, even if they are not yet sure whether it needs an in-person visit. We would rather spend a few minutes on the phone helping someone think clearly than have them worry unnecessarily overnight.

This mindset extends to how we talk about animal welfare more broadly. We support responsible pet ownership, encourage thoughtful research before bringing a new companion into a household, and try to speak honestly about the realities of caring for an animal over its lifetime — not just the rewarding parts.
